Advertising Policy

The Dopamine Deck is free to use. This page explains how advertising works here, the extra limits that apply because this is a health-related site, and how to control personalised advertising on other sites.

Current status: this site runs no ad units

No page on this domain currently loads advertising. There is no ad code on any template, so no ad is served here today. We publish an ads.txt file so that, if and when ad units are enabled, only Google AdSense is authorised to sell inventory on this domain. This page sets out the rules that would apply from the first day an ad unit existed, and those rules are checked before any ad code is added.

This is a health-related site: restricted, non-personalised advertising only

• The Dopamine Deck publishes content about ADHD, sleep, mood, anxiety and executive function. These are health topics, so advertising here is limited to non-personalised / restricted ads.
• Advertisers cannot use health information to target you on this site. We do not pass page-level health topics, tool usage, self-assessment answers or anything you type into a tool to any advertising system, and we do not enable personalised advertising on health-topic pages.
• Ad units load with non-personalised ad requests, and no health signal is attached to those requests.
• We never enable audience targeting, remarketing or interest-based segments for health-topic pages.

Ads are kept away from crisis content — by rule and by measurement

• Every crisis or helpline block on this site is marked in the HTML with a data-no-ads="crisis" attribute, so it can be detected automatically and kept free of advertising.
• No ad unit is placed inside a crisis block, and none within 600 px (about one mobile viewport) of its nearest edge, measured on both desktop and mobile layouts.
• No ad unit is placed above a crisis block on the same page: on any page containing crisis content, ads may only appear below the block and outside the 600 px clearance.
• Pages whose main purpose is crisis or helpline information carry no advertising at all.

Ads are kept separate from our content

• Every ad unit is visually separated from page content and the tool buttons, and labelled as advertising by the ad provider.
• No advertiser pays for placement inside a tool, guide, printable card or blog post, and no advertiser reviews or approves what we write.
• We do not allow ads on our privacy, terms, advertising, medical-disclaimer, disclaimer or editorial-policy pages.
• Our health and ADHD content is written independently of any advertising relationship.

Google advertising cookies and personalised ads

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland). Because this site serves no ad units and personalised advertising is not enabled for it, no personalised-ads consent message is shown here. If personalised advertising is ever enabled, a Google-certified consent management platform (CMP) will be deployed first, and no ad unit will load before consent is collected.
